School of Foundations for Counselling Ministry
Bilingual – Portuguese / English
This course equips those who feel called to reach hurt and broken people. As the entry course with the faculty of Counseling and Health Care of UofN, the FMA lays the foundation for a biblical counseling ministry, especially within YWAM and the mission community. The school offers tools to reach the lost; increases self-understanding, develop a more mature and healthy emotional life; and reveals new ministry opportunities.
Some topics addressed in the school:
- Man’s identity and worldview; divine plumb line; active listening in the Holy Spirit; grace of the cross; spiritual warfare in counseling; dynamics of personalities; sexuality; counseling children; types of abuse and limits; the origin of traumas; dependence and emotional codependency.
Objectives:
- Expansion of vision
Upon completion of this school the student should be able to look beyond them self with a view to assisting others. Having taken steps toward their own wholeness, they will have developed a vision to pass on what they have learned. - Personal development
This will involve personal restoration of the inner being, restoration of identity, renewal of core beliefs and understanding of emotions. - Skills development
Developing the ability to express warmth, respect and empathy in personal interaction by applying the tools learned during the course. - Cognitive development
Create the opportunity for the student to utilize biblical knowledge in different areas of counselling. - Ministerial development opportunities
Our goal is to see our students go and impact the world with their training. Students should finish this school with an understanding of how they can bring change to the world with what they have learned and experienced. Those students with a call for counselling should finish the school with concrete opportunities for ministry or further training.
